Vi bruker ogs\\u00e5 &lt;strong&gt;geit&lt;\\\/strong&gt;emelk og litt &lt;strong&gt;reinsdyr&lt;\\\/strong&gt;melk, men dette er mindre vanlig enn kumelk. I Norge er det mulig \\u00e5 kj\\u00f8pe kumelk i litt ulike varianter, alt etter &lt;strong&gt;fettinnholdet&lt;\\\/strong&gt;. Skumma melk har minst fett med bare 0,1% fett. Lettmelk er den vanligste melka i Norge; den har 1% fett. Imellom skumma melk og lettmelk har vi ekstra lettmelk med 0,5% fett. Den melka vi drikker som har h\\u00f8yest fettinnhold er helmelk med 3,5%. Det er vanlig \\u00e5 lage &lt;strong&gt;gr\\u00f8t&lt;\\\/strong&gt; med helmelk. Dersom fettinnholdet er h\\u00f8yere enn dette er det enten fersk melk rett fra kua eller s\\u00e5 er det fl\\u00f8te. Fl\\u00f8te kan ha fettinnhold p\\u00e5 18% til 35%.&lt;\\\/p&gt;\\n&lt;p&gt;I Norge bruker vi melk til &lt;strong&gt;matlaging&lt;\\\/strong&gt;, vi drikker den og vi bruker den til \\u00e5 bake med. Det er veldig vanlig \\u00e5 ha melk p\\u00e5 &lt;strong&gt;frokostblandinga&lt;\\\/strong&gt; si i Norge, eller \\u00e5 drikke et glass med melk med &lt;strong&gt;br\\u00f8dskivene&lt;\\\/strong&gt;. Jeg husker at det var vanlig &lt;strong&gt;\\u00e5 f\\u00e5 utdelt&lt;\\\/strong&gt; skolemelk p\\u00e5 b\\u00e5de barneskolen og ungdomsskolen. Barneskolen er fra man er 6 til 12\\u00e5r og ungdomsskolen er fra 13 til 15\\u00e5r. Denne ordningen fungerte slik at vi kunne &lt;strong&gt;melde oss p\\u00e5 &lt;\\\/strong&gt;for \\u00e5 f\\u00e5 melk p\\u00e5 skolen. Da fikk man en melkekartong p\\u00e5 ca. 2,5dl hver eneste dag ved lunsjen. I Norge er det generelt et stort fokus p\\u00e5 at melk er &lt;strong&gt;sunt&lt;\\\/strong&gt;. Proteininnholdet i melk er av veldig h\\u00f8y kvalitet. I tillegg er det mange bra vitaminer i melk som vitamin D, E og K. I tillegg er det mye kalsium i melk som er viktig for beina og tennene. Barn har &lt;strong&gt;skjelett&lt;\\\/strong&gt; og bein som vokser mye og &lt;strong&gt;endrer seg&lt;\\\/strong&gt;. Da er det viktig at de f\\u00e5r nok kalsium. Jeg tror det er grunnen til at vi fikk subsidiert melk p\\u00e5 skolen.&lt;\\\/p&gt;\\n&lt;p&gt;Jeg tror en av grunnene til at vi har et s\\u00e5 positivt syn p\\u00e5 melk i Norge er at &lt;strong&gt;mesteparten av befolkningen &lt;\\\/strong&gt;t\\u00e5ler laktose. Laktose er melkesukker og det er ikke alle som klarer \\u00e5 &lt;strong&gt;ford\\u00f8ye&lt;\\\/strong&gt; dette. Dersom man ikke klarer \\u00e5 ford\\u00f8ye laktose sier man at man har laktoseintoleranse. Alle &lt;strong&gt;spedbarn&lt;\\\/strong&gt; &lt;strong&gt;opp til en viss alder&lt;\\\/strong&gt; &lt;strong&gt;t\\u00e5ler &lt;\\\/strong&gt;laktose. Det er f\\u00f8rst n\\u00e5r man blir eldre at mange mister evnen til &lt;strong&gt;\\u00e5 bryte ned&lt;\\\/strong&gt; laktose. Laktoseintoleranse er veldig vanlig i verden. Faktisk er det bare &lt;strong&gt;mindretallet&lt;\\\/strong&gt; av &lt;strong&gt;voksne&lt;\\\/strong&gt; mennesker som t\\u00e5ler laktose. I Asia er 80-100% laktoseintolerante. I Afrika s\\u00f8r for Sahara er 85-100% laktoseintolerante. Blant s\\u00f8reuropeere er dette 60-85%. Blant hvite amerikanere er det bare 10-25% som er laktoseintolerante. Det er likevel nordeuropeere som t\\u00e5ler laktose best. I Nord-Europa er det bare 5-15% som har laktoseintoleranse. Norge er et av landene i verden med h\\u00f8yest toleranse for laktose. Blant den norske befolkningen er det bare 2-3% som er laktoseintolerante. Det betyr at 97% av voksne nordmenn t\\u00e5ler laktose. En av teoriene er at folk i den nordlige delen av verden som t\u00e5lte laktose hadde en bedre sjanse til \u00e5 <strong>overleve<\/strong>. Over tusener av \u00e5r har det f\u00f8rt til at nordeuropeere t\u00e5ler bedre laktose enn andre. De som t\u00e5ler laktose har nok av enzymet laktase. Enzymet laktase er n\u00f8dvendig for \u00e5 bryte ned laktose. I Norge er det alts\u00e5 mange som har nok laktase til \u00e5 bryte ned laktose slik at de kan drikke melk. Dette er grunnen til at det er s\u00e5 vanlig \u00e5 drikke melk i Norge og at det er lange tradisjoner for \u00e5 drikke melk; vi i Norge t\u00e5ler melk bedre enn resten av verden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Milk and Lactose Tolerance in Norway<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>The milk consumed in Norway comes, first and foremost, from cows, although milk from goats and reindeer is also used to a certain degree. However, cow\u2019s milk is what is most readily available in stores, and you can choose between some different varieties, mostly distinguished by the fat content. Skimmed milk only contains 0,1% fat whereas the one with the highest fat content is \u201chelmelk\u201d with 3,5% fat. When the fat content is very high, it turns to cream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Norway, we use milk for cooking, we drink it, and we use it for baking. It is very common to use milk on cereal, or to drink a glass of milk when eating bread. At school, I remember it was possible to sign up for an arrangement where we would get milk during lunch. Milk is generally regarded as healthy in Norway as it contains proteins of very good quality; it has a lot of vitamins; and it contains a lot of calcium which is very important for bones and teeth. Children grow a lot and will therefore need a higher amount of calcium. I think this is the reason that we were offered subsidized milk in school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I think the reason that we have such a positive view of milk in Norway is that most of us tolerate lactose. Lactose is a sugar found in milk that you need a special enzyme called lactase to digest. All babies and smaller children have this enzyme and can therefore digest lactose. This makes sense as we all live on milk as babies. When we grow up, many people lose the ability to digest lactose, making them lactose intolerant. In fact, lactose intolerance is the norm among adults globally. In Asia, 80-100% of all adults are lactose intolerant. In Africa south of Sahara, this number is 85-100%. Among southern Europeans, 60-85% of adults are lactose intolerant. Among white Americans, this number is only 10-25%, but northern Europeans have the lowest number of lactose intolerance of all subgroups with only 5-15% of adults. Norway is one of the countries with the lowest percentage of lactose intolerance; only 2-3% of the adult population are lactose intolerant. That means that 97% of adults in Norway can digest lactose, a very uncommon phenomenon globally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why do so many Norwegians tolerate lactose? It is due to a genetic change which is very common among northern Europeans. The main theory for this is that lactose tolerance was a comparative advantage in this environment, making it more likely for these individuals to survive. This likely happened over thousands of years. Jeg husker at det var vanlig \u00e5 f\u00e5 utdelt skolemelk p\u00e5 b\u00e5de barneskolen og ungdomsskolen. Barneskolen er fra man er 6 til 12\u00e5r og ungdomsskolen er fra 13 til 15\u00e5r. Denne ordningen fungerte slik at vi kunne melde oss p\u00e5 for \u00e5 f\u00e5 melk p\u00e5 skolen. Da fikk man en melkekartong p\u00e5 ca. 2,5dl hver eneste dag ved lunsjen. I Norge er det generelt et stort fokus p\u00e5 at melk er sunt. Proteininnholdet i melk er av veldig h\u00f8y kvalitet. I tillegg er det mange bra vitaminer i melk som vitamin D, E og K. I tillegg er det mye kalsium i melk som er viktig for beina og tennene. Barn har skjelett og bein som vokser mye og endrer seg. Da er det viktig at de f\u00e5r nok kalsium.
